Excited for Black Panther? So are we. Which is because we’re rolling out recurrent coverage with Black Panther Week.
T’Challa reigns autarchic over film reviews, where Black Panther has a highest Rotten Tomatoes score of any live-action superhero movie. As for superhero cinema in general? It’s tied with The Incredibles, so we’ll concede it.
Black Panther is now rocking a 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, a same measure The Incredibles intended out during in 2004. To date, a top rated live-action superhero film in a MCU was 2008’s initial Iron Man (it strike 94 percent, as did DC’s The Dark Knight after that year). Most Marvel cinema warranted sincerely high ratings, including final year’s Thor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man: Homecoming (both during 92 percent), with a chronological low going to Thor: The Dark World (66 percent). Logan and Wonder Woman both scored high in 2017, scoring large victories for non-Avengers Marvel and DC overall.
Since superhero movies, we know, got good in a early 2000s, many warranted plain vicious ratings during around 75 percent or aloft (notable exceptions being a likes of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, resting down during 27 percent. The worst-rated superhero film historically is 1984’s Supergirl (7 percent).
Beyond being a best-reviewed superhero film given a 14-year-old Disney/Pixar joint, Black Panther already pennyless Marvel’s advanced sheet sales record on Fandango and as of dual weeks before a recover was pacing to be one of a biggest superhero film releases ever.
Black Panther is in theaters Friday (with screenings on Thursday, if we can find tickets, lol).
